Pad kra pao
The dish is known for its bold flavors and aromatic combination of spices and herbs, which give it a unique and delicious taste. Pad Kra Pao is a popular street food in Thailand and is also commonly found in Thai restaurants around the world. It’s a quick and easy dish to make and is perfect for a flavorful weeknight dinner.
Ingredients:
2 tbsp vegetable oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
2-3 Thai bird’s eye chili, minced (or substitute with serrano pepper)
1 cup holy basil leaves
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp fish sauce
1 tsp sugar
Steamed rice, for serving
Fried egg (optional)
Instructions:
Add the minced garlic and chili pepper to the pan, and stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
Add the ground meat to the pan and break it up with a spatula. Stir-fry the meat for about 2-3 minutes until it is cooked through.
Add the oyster sauce, soy sauce, fish sauce, and sugar to the pan. Stir-fry for another minute or so until everything is well combined.
Add the holy basil leaves to the pan and stir-fry for another 30 seconds until the basil is wilted.
Serve hot with steamed rice and a fried egg on top (if using).
